The short answer: Reduce each date of birth to a Life Path number and look the pair up in the chart below. The highest pairing is 6 with 9 (90); the lowest are 2 with 5, 3 with 4 and 4 with 5 (55). About 58% of couples rate Very Good or better — so a good score is common, and a lower one is no verdict.

What Is Numerology Love Compatibility?

Numerology love compatibility looks at how two people’s core numbers interact. The main number is the Life Path — the Bhagyank in Indian numerology — which reflects each person’s overall nature, values and approach to life. When two Life Paths naturally harmonise, a relationship is thought to feel easier; when they differ, it can still work beautifully, but may ask for more patience.

Hold this lightly. Numerology is a thought-provoking mirror for a relationship, not a decision. Two people with a lower score can be entirely happy, and a high score guarantees nothing. What actually makes a relationship work is how two people treat each other every day.

How to Check Love Compatibility by Date of Birth

Each person’s Life Path is found by reducing the full date of birth to a single digit; the two numbers are then compared. Here is the full working for a real pair.

Person 1, born 14 March 1992. The day 14 reduces to 1 + 4 = 5. The month is 3. The year 1992 reduces to 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 21, then 3. Adding those gives 5 + 3 + 3 = 11, which reduces to 2.

Person 2, born 9 July 1990. The day 9 stays 9. The month is 7. The year 1990 reduces to 19, then 10, then 1. Adding gives 9 + 7 + 1 = 17, which reduces to 8.

A Life Path 2 with a Life Path 8 scores 84 in the chart below — Very Good, Naturally Compatible. The calculator now shows exactly this working under every result, so you can check each step for yourself.

One common confusion: the day 14 reduced to 5 along the way, but 5 is not the Life Path. That 5 is the Mulank, or root number, which comes from the day alone. The Life Path uses the whole date. Mixing the two up is the most common mistake in checking your own numbers by hand.

Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are reduced to 2, 4 and 6 here, because the chart is mapped across the nine single digits. Our Free Numerology Report keeps master numbers when it shows your Life Path on its own, so the same date can read as 11 there and 2 here.

Date of Birth Matching Se Love Compatibility Kaise Check Kare?

Date of birth se love compatibility check karne ka sabse aasan tarika yahi hai: dono logo ki poori janm-tareekh se unka Life Path Number (Bhagyank) nikalein, phir dekhein ki wo do numbers kitna achha taalmel banate hain.

Upar wala udaharan dobara dekhein: 14 March 1992 waale ka Life Path 2 nikla, aur 9 July 1990 waale ka 8. Dono ek hi group (2, 4, 8) mein aate hain, isliye score 84 aaya. Dhyan rakhein — 14 tareekh se jo 5 nikla tha, wo Mulank hai, Life Path nahi. Mulank sirf din se banta hai, jabki Life Path poori date se.

Upar diya gaya calculator yeh sab apne aap kar deta hai, aur ab poori ganana bhi dikhata hai — bas dono ki date of birth daaliye. Dono ke naam bhi daal dein to Namank match alag se dikh jaata hai.

Life Path Compatibility Chart: All 81 Pairings

Most sites describe compatibility in vague groups. Below is the actual scoring table this calculator uses, published in full. Find your Life Path down the left, your partner’s across the top, and read where they meet.

8588460886082588266
9788088668290806688

The chart is symmetrical, so 3 with 7 reads the same as 7 with 3. These figures are this site’s scoring model, built on the traditional number groupings — not a universal standard. Another calculator will use its own numbers.

How common is each rating?

Ratings run from Excellent (85 and above) through Very Good (75–84), Good (65–74) and Moderate (55–64). Because Life Path numbers are spread evenly across birth dates — we checked every date from 1926 to 2026, and each number takes almost exactly one ninth — we can work out how often each rating comes up:

RatingScoreShare of couples
Excellent85–90about 22% — roughly 1 couple in 5
Very Good75–84about 36%
Good65–74about 10%
Moderate55–64about 32%
Challengingbelow 55none — no pairing in the chart scores below 55

Three things follow. A good result is common: nearly six couples in ten rate Very Good or better. The chart never actually calls any couple “Challenging” — the lowest score anywhere is 55. And two people who share the same Life Path always rate Very Good or better, since the lowest same-number score is 78. The calculator now shows the share for your band right under your rating, so an “Excellent” is read for what it is.

What the Chart Shows — and What It Doesn’t

The strongest pairings

The highest score is 6 with 9 at 90 — the devoted carer and the compassionate idealist, both oriented towards giving. At 88 sit 2 with 6, 3 with 6, 3 with 9, 4 with 8, and the self-pairings 6 with 6 and 9 with 9. Notice how often 6 and 9 appear.

The hardest pairings

Three pairings tie at the bottom on 55: 2 with 5, 3 with 4, and 4 with 5. Two of the three involve a 4 meeting a number that resists structure; the third pits a 5’s need for freedom against a 2’s need for closeness. Just above, at 58, are 1 with 8, 3 with 7 and 7 with 8 — pairings where two strong-willed or two inward natures tend to compete rather than complement.

Which number is easiest to love?

Average each row and Life Path 9 scores highest overall, about 80 across all nine partners, with 6 close behind at about 79. Both are naturally accommodating numbers. At the other end, Life Path 8 averages lowest, about 71, with 7 next at about 72. That is not a judgement on either — 8 is ambitious and 7 inward, and both are selective. When they find their people — 8 with 4 at 88, 7 with 5 at 84 — the match is strong.

The number families — and a note on what they prove

The traditional groupings are 1, 5 and 7 (independent, mentally active), 2, 4 and 8 (practical, steady) and 3, 6 and 9 (creative, expressive). Every within-family pairing rates Very Good or better: 1-5 is 85, 1-7 is 82, 5-7 is 84; 2-4 is 86, 2-8 is 84, 4-8 is 88; 3-6 is 88, 3-9 is 88, 6-9 is 90.

An earlier version of this page called that “a genuine consistency check on the model rather than a coincidence”. It is worth being more careful. The scores were built from these families, so finding the families in the scores is exactly what you would expect. It shows the chart was put together consistently; it is not independent evidence that the families describe real relationships.

Cross-family pairings do better than the rule suggests

The family rule would lead you to expect pairings across families to score poorly. In fact, 10 of the 27 cross-family pairings still rate Very Good or better:

PairingScorePairingScore
2 with 6882 with 980
3 with 5844 with 780
4 with 6847 with 980
5 with 9821 with 380
6 with 8821 with 978

Our earlier list named only six of these and missed four — including 2 with 6, which at 88 ties with the strongest within-family pairings. If your pairing is on this list, the family rule alone would have underestimated you.

Why the Name Match Can Disagree With the Life Path Score

Add both names and the calculator shows a separate Namank match. You may notice it sometimes seems to contradict the main score. That is not a bug — it is two traditions giving two answers, and it is worth understanding.

The Life Path chart is built on the number families above, a grouping that comes from Western numerology. The name match uses a different source entirely: the Indian table of planetary friendships, in which each number stands for a planet — 1 the Sun, 2 the Moon, 3 Jupiter, 5 Mercury, 6 Venus, 8 Saturn, 9 Mars — and the classical texts record which planets are friends. Run the same two numbers through both, and they often disagree:

NumbersLife Path chartName match (planetary friendships)
6 and 990 — the highest in the chartNeutral — Venus and Mars are not friends
2 and 688Neutral — the Moon and Venus
3 and 688Neutral — Jupiter and Venus
5 and 664 — ModerateMutual friends — Mercury and Venus
2 and 555 — the lowest in the chartOne-sided — the Moon befriends Mercury, Mercury does not return it

Across all 36 pairs of different numbers, the two systems agree on whether a pairing is good in only 21 — about 58%. Neither is “right”. They are different traditions measuring different things, and the calculator shows them side by side, clearly labelled, rather than blending them into one number.

One-sided friendships

The planetary friendship table has a feature that surprises most people: it is not symmetrical. A friendship is recorded from each planet’s own point of view, and the two views do not always match. The Moon counts Mercury as a friend — but in the classical texts, Mercury regards the Moon as an enemy.

An earlier version of this calculator treated a pairing as favourable if either side counted the other as a friend. That fixed an older problem, where the result depended on who was entered first — but it meant that of the 16 pairings it called favourable, 10 were in fact one-sided. The calculator now distinguishes four levels:

  • Same number — a natural echo between the two names.
  • Mutual friends — each counts the other a friend: 1 with 2, 1 with 3, 1 with 9, 3 with 9, 5 with 6, and 6 with 8.
  • One-sided — one counts the other a friend, but it is not returned. The result names which way round.
  • Neutral — neither counts the other a friend.

The verdict still never depends on who is entered first; only the sentence says who befriends whom. One more honest caveat: Rahu and Ketu (4 and 7) are not in the classical friendship table at all. Later writers added them, and they disagree about their friendships, so the calculator flags any pairing that involves them.

Numerology Compatibility vs Kundli Milan

Search for compatibility by date of birth in India and much of what you find is kundli milan — the traditional 36-guna horoscope match. It is a completely different system from this calculator, and the difference matters.

There is one interesting overlap. One of kundli milan’s eight kootas, Graha Maitri, scores the friendship between the planets ruling the two Moon signs — using the same classical friendship table as our name match. It gives full marks, 5, when both planets are friends, 4 when one is a friend and the other neutral, and just 1 when one is a friend and the other an enemy. The tradition itself, in other words, treats a one-sided friendship very differently from a mutual one — which is exactly why our name match now tells them apart.

This calculator is not a substitute for kundli milan if your family follows that tradition. And it is worth saying plainly: neither a numerology score nor a guna score has been shown to predict how a marriage actually turns out. If either is being used to decide whether two people may marry, it deserves far less weight than how well they know and treat each other.

Making Any Match Work

No numerology pairing is doomed and none is guaranteed. A Moderate score simply means you are wired differently, which can make a relationship richer when both people appreciate the contrast.

The chart is useful precisely because it is specific. If you are a 4 with a 5 at 55, it is not telling you to give up — it is telling you where the friction lives: structure against spontaneity. That is something two people can talk about and plan around. A high score says nothing about how you handle conflict or how committed you both are, and those matter far more than any number.

Is This Love Calculator Real or Just for Fun?

Many love calculators online run a joke formula on two names and produce a random percentage. This one is different in a specific way: the Life Path reduction is real, consistent numerology, and the calculator shows every step so you can check it. The compatibility scores are a model built on the traditional groupings, published openly in the chart rather than hidden in the tool.

What it is not is a scientific predictor of your relationship. No numerology tool can honestly claim that. Treat it as a genuine numerology reading, offered transparently for reflection.

Common Misconceptions

  • “An Excellent score means we are a rare match.” About 1 couple in 5 scores Excellent, and nearly 6 in 10 score Very Good or better.
  • “A low score means we should not be together.” Plenty of happy couples sit in the lower half of the chart.
  • “A high score guarantees a happy relationship.” No number replaces communication, trust and daily care.
  • “The name match and the date match should agree.” They come from different traditions and agree on only about 58% of pairings.
  • “This is the same as kundli milan.” Different inputs, method and tradition — and no birth time is used here.
  • “My Life Path is my birth day reduced.” That is the Mulank. The Life Path uses the whole date.
  • “It is scientifically proven.” Compatibility numerology is a traditional belief, best enjoyed for reflection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check love compatibility by date of birth?

Reduce each full date of birth to a single-digit Life Path, then look the pair up in the chart. The calculator does this, shows the working, and gives a score, rating and short reading.

Which Life Path numbers are most compatible?

Numbers in the same family — 1, 5, 7; 2, 4, 8; 3, 6, 9 — all rate Very Good or better, and the single highest pairing is 6 with 9 at 90. But 10 of the 27 cross-family pairings also rate Very Good or better, led by 2 with 6 at 88.

Which Life Path pairings score lowest?

Three tie at 55: 2 with 5, 3 with 4, and 4 with 5. That still rates Moderate — no pairing in the chart scores below 55.

How common is an Excellent score?

About 22% of couples — roughly 1 in 5. Very Good is the most common rating, at about 36%.

Why does my name match disagree with my Life Path score?

Because they come from different traditions. The Life Path chart uses the Western number families; the name match uses the Indian planetary friendships. The same two numbers can score highly in one and neutral in the other — 6 and 9 is the clearest example.

What does a one-sided name pairing mean?

In the planetary friendship table, one planet counts the other as a friend but the friendship is not returned — for example, the Moon befriends Mercury, but Mercury does not return it. Traditional astrology treats this as weaker than a mutual friendship.

Is this the same as kundli milan?

No. Kundli milan needs the exact time and place of birth and compares Moon nakshatras for a score out of 36. This calculator uses only dates of birth and optional names.

Why is my Life Path different from my birth day number?

Your birth day reduced to one digit is the Mulank. The Life Path uses the whole date — day, month and year — so the two often differ.

How does master number compatibility work?

Master numbers 11, 22 and 33 are reduced to 2, 4 and 6 so they fit the nine-digit chart.

Does love compatibility numerology really work?

It is a traditional belief system rather than a proven science. Enjoy it as a way to reflect on a relationship, but never make it the basis for a serious decision.
